Researchers at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Chevy Chase, MD, USA, have developed a platform to create and test synthetic regulatory elements (CREs) that control gene expression. These CREs can target specific cell types. Using neural network models and lab tests, they showed that synthetic sequences are more effective than natural human genome sequences.

This breakthrough paves the way for advanced biotechnological and therapeutic applications.
